Jessica Coombs joins the WSAV team from the Rocky Mountains of Salt Lake City, Utah.
As an avid traveler and storyteller, Jessica has experience working across the globe in major cities including New York City and London.
Manhattan’s NY1 and Salt Lake City’s ABC affiliate helped further her love of reporting and producing. Jessica believes everyone has a story, a belief that has enabled her to connect with people across the country. From working on an in-depth piece about 9/11 to covering the 2017 Tony Award Show from the Red Carpet, Jessica seeks out opportunities to cover any and all stories.
During her collegiate experience at Brigham Young University, she worked as an anchor, reporter and producer for the local PBS station in Utah — receiving Mark of Excellence Awards for her work in hard news, features, anchoring and in-depth reporting.
Jessica loves music and grew up performing on the piano since she was 3 years old. As an advocate for the arts, she soloed with the Utah Symphony in 2013 and performed in the 2002 Winter Olympics. Her time as the Youth Ambassador for the Utah Symphony enabled her to teach the value of good music and the classical arts across the state of Utah.
As a Summa Cum Laude graduate with degrees in Broadcast Journalism and Music, she was named the Broadcast Education Associations Best News Anchor in 2018. She was also nominated for three student production Emmy Awards while she was in college.
When she isn’t racing to cover a story, you will find her with her camera, serving her local community, trying out a new recipe and exploring new places to meet people from all walks of life.
