SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – Tuesday Benedictine Military held their annual Gannam Day Memorial Ceremony. 

On December 7th 80 years ago Pearl Harbor was attacked, leading to the United States’ entry into World War II.

SSG George Karam Gannam was the first Savanniahian to die in World War II when he was killed during the Pearl Harbor attacks.

Gannam, a graduate from Benedictine Military School, was stationed in Hawaii as a radio operator for the United States Army Air Corps.
