City of Greenville host Ball Drop fundraiser

Posted: Updated:

The City of Greenville had some fun with ping pong balls Monday evening, and it’s all for a great cause.

At 5:30pm Monday night almost 700 balls were dropped from a lift over the “Field of Dreams” at Elm Street Park.

Numbers are written on the ping pong balls, and the ball that landed closest to the middle of third base won.

“Having it here at the tournament of champions was a great choice. It’s our little league right here in Greenville. Lots of people from out of state are coming in so we have to opportunity to sell tickets them and tell them and tell them about the great job the united way is doing” said event coordinator Elizabeth Blount

People purchased ping pong balls for $1 each. Kids who attended the event and helped pick up the balls earned a free Kids Meal from Chick-fil-a.

Money from the drop is supporting the United Way of Pitt County.
