HAVELOCK, N.C. -

A Morehead City man faces charges after a fatal shooting Friday in Havelock.

Police say 23-year-old Christopher Godette of Morehead City is charged with one felony count of murder in the death of 45-year-old Gerald Price.

Police say neighbors on Cedar Ridge Lane called 911 around 11 a.m. Friday about a shooting. When officers arrived they found Price collapsed in the front yard with multiple gunshot wounds.

Price was airlifted to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville by a Marine Corps Air Station Rescue Helicopter crew, assigned to MCAS Cherry Point. He later died at the hospital.

Police say Price was apparently shot inside the home, and several weapons and ammunition were recovered inside. Investigators were looking for a black Dodge pickup truck seen driving away from the home.

Police say Godette is currently being held in the Craven County Detention Center under no bond.
