The Dogs (9-14/42-51) got the early jump with two runs in the first inning against Savannah starter Robert Gsellman. First baseman Mike Ford drove home the first run with a double down the rightfield line and scored on an error for the second. Charleston added a third run, and the second unearned run against Gsellman, in the third. The Gnats committed four errors in the game.

Charleston finished off their scoring with a bases-loaded walk in the fourth.
