Death Toll From Israeli Air Strikes Tops 120

Posted: Updated:
GAZA STRIP, ISRAEL -

Israeli airstrikes targeting Hamas in Gaza have hit a mosque.

The Israeli military says the mosque concealed rockets right next to another religious site and civilian homes.

A Hamas spokesman in Qatar says the strike shows Israel is "hostile to Islam" and gives Hamas the right to broaden its response.

Israel launched the strikes five days ago to stop relentless rocket fire on its citizens.

Officials say the death toll from Israel's air offensive on Gaza has topped 120 and the campaign shows no sign of stopping. Gaza's Health Ministry says more than 920 have been wounded.

Dozens of the dead are civilians, though the exact breakdown remains unclear.

Israel's military says the airstrikes have taken out Hamas' command centers, rocket launchers and storage sites.
