2 fireworks displays wow downtown Raleigh

Posted: Updated:
RALEIGH, N.C. -

Thousands dressed in red, white and blue flocked to downtown Raleigh Friday to celebrate the birth of the United States of America.

Two spectacular firework shows capped off a day full of fun for just about everyone just 24 hours after Hurricane Arthur brought wind and rain to North Carolina.

The weather cooled off for the Fourth of July with temperatures hitting around 80 degrees before the sun went down.

Fayetteville Street played host to 20 bands on three stages, a beer garden, kids events and a foam shower.

A hot air balloon was stationed in front of the Progress Energy Center. Some winds kept the balloon grounded for part of the evening.

Those in attendance had a choice between two different fireworks displays. One was geared towards those on Fayetteville Street while the second shoot was geared more towards Red Hat Amphitheater.
