NEW BERN, N.C. -

A New Bern home is destroyed after an early morning fire in Craven County.

Ira Whitford, the Assistant Director of Emergency Services for Craven County, says a call came in for a house fire at 125 Truitt Road at approximately midnight Thursday.

Five people were in the home at the time of the fire. Some family members were arriving to the home and saw flames inside and called 911. All five family members were not injured in the fire.

The home belonged to Christopher Delph.

Several Volunteer Fire Departments from Craven and Pamlico Counties responded to the house fire. Whitford says some firemen received minor injuries while battling the fire, were treated for them.

The State Bureau of Investigation was called in to help investigate the cause of the fire.
