HAVELOCK, N.C. -  The Havelock City police say there will be no charges filed in an accidental shooting that left 22 year-old Raymond Andrews of New Bern dead.

According to police, Andrews sustained a single gunshot wound to his head. He was pronounced dead by the Havelock Fire/EMS paramedic staff.

----Previous Story----
A Craven County man killed, in what is believed to be an accidental shooting, will be remembered Friday evening.

Raymond Andrews, 22, died Wednesday night after being shot in the parking lot of the Nightmare Factory in Havelock, where he worked.

Havelock Police haven’t revealed the exact details of what lad to Andrews being shot because the case is still under investigation.

Crews were at the Nightmare Factory preparing for the upcoming season. The haunted house operates as a business in the months of September, November and December.

Justin Yates, the co-owner of the Nightmare Factory says Andrews was the most selfless person he has ever met.

“He didn’t know what was going to happen, of course,” said Yates. “But, it was just an accident.”

The shooting death comes as a shot to many in the Havelock community, but one that is becoming all too common.

“I believe in the right to bare arms responsibly,” said Kevin Sullivan, a Havelock resident. “Obviously somebody wasn’t paying attention, and as usually the case somebody gets hurt, or dead. It’s a shame”

Friend of Andrews say he will never be forgotten.

“He was a very smart, unique, just awesome person and it was a very unfortunate accident."

A vigil will be held at the Nightmare Factory for friends and family of Andrew Friday, June 20 at 8:30 p.m.
