The high school sports season came to an end Saturday in Virginia, and two local high schools are bringing home the state's highest honor.

On the baseball field, Virginia High School finished off an unbelievable stretch of dominance with a 7-2 win over Strasburg in the state championship. The Bearcats scored five times in the 6th inning to lead 7-1 before closing it out an inning later.

Virginia High won its final twelve games and did so in truly dominant fashion, outscoring its opponents 123-11. The Bearcats finish the season with a 25-4 record.

Also on the diamond, the quest for an undefeated season came to an end for Honaker. The Tigers lost 9-3 to Northumberland, finishing an incredible campaign with a 25-1 mark overall.

On the tennis court, it's eight championships in twelve years for the Gate City Lady Blue Devils. Delonda Spivey's team finished off a commanding championship match, beating Wilson Memorial 5-2.

The Lady Devils got singles wins from Rosa Smith (6-2, 6-2), Emily Smith (6-2, 6-3), Emily Hensley (7-6, 6-4), Karson Light (6-4, 6-1) and Hannah Spivey (6-1, 6-2).
