COLUMBUS, Ga. -

Stanford junior Patrick Rodgers has won the 2014 Haskins Award, presented to the top amateur golfer in the country.

The award is presented by the Haskins Commission, based in Columbus and named for Fred Haskins, who served as head golf professional at the Country Club of Columbus for 34 years.

Rodgers is the reigning Pac-12 Player of the Year with a scoring average of 68.39, just edging Alabama’s Robby Shelton (68.58). A three-time All-American, Rodgers turned professional after his junior season.

He will make his pro debut June 19-22 to play in the Travelers Championship in Cromwell, Conn.

Rodgers will be presented the award July 1 at the Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs, W. Va.
