Columbus police looking for suspect in 11th avenue shooting

COLUMBUS, Ga. - Columbus police are on the lookout for a man they say is connected to an 11th Avenue shooting. Police say on June 6th around 6:30 am, 30 year old Joseph Blanding went to an address on 11th Avenue and confronted the mother of his children and her current boyfriend.

They say Blanding pulled out a pistol during the confrontation and fired off several shots at his ex-girlfriend. Two individuals were struck by bullets. Their injuries were not life threatening. Blanding then left the area in a Beige 1999 Cadillac DeVille with an Alabama tag of 696AD6.

Blanding is described as a black man approximately 6'3'' weighing 210 pounds. The Columbus Police Department Robbery/Assault Unit has obtained 3 aggravated assault warrants for Blanding and are asking for anyone with information as to his whereabouts to contact police at 706-653-3400.
