BEAUFORT COUNTY, S.C. - The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office and Lady's Island Fire Department are investigating a suspicious fire that started at 8:15 a.m. Saturday on Lady's Island.

According to Scott Harris of Lady's Island Fire Department, the fire was called in by neighbors of the home located at 30 Spanish Moss Drive. Neighbors saw smoke and believed a 9 year old child could have been trapped inside.

When firefighters arrived on scene, they discovered no one entrapped. They extinguished the fire, reporting minimal damage to the home. However, they are calling the fire suspicious. They continue to investigate its cause.
