Vehicle leaves scene after Columbus police-involved crash

Posted: Updated:
COLUMBUS, Ga. - Columbus police say they are interested in talking with a driver who left the scene of a crash that injured an officer Wednesday evening, Sgt. Clyde Dent tells WRBL News 3.

Around 6p et, three vehicles - including a Columbus police car - were traveling north on Manchester Parkway near Interstate 185. The first car, described only as a red vehicle, caused a chain reaction crash between a black car and the police car. The red car kept driving.

The officer, whose name was not immediately released, is described as suffering from wrist pain after the crash but neither he or anyone else suffered any serious injuries.

Police were not immediately classifying it as a hit-and-run because the red vehicle never made contact with the other cars, according to Sgt. Dent. However, they would be interested in talking with the driver of that vehicle.

Anyone with information is asked to call Columbus police at 706-653-3400.
