WILSON'S MILLS, N.C. -

Wilson’s Mills police were part of a 6-mile chase involving a Raleigh man Wednesday afternoon.

Police said officers attempted to stop Robel Yehdgo, 30, of Raleigh, for careless and reckless driving on U.S. 70 Highway near Wilson’s Mills Road.

Yehdgo crossed the center line and barely missed hitting another vehicle, police said.

Wilson’s Mills police said Yehdgo did not stop and lead police on a chase that remained under 70 miles per hour.

Police used a “rolling road block” to end the chase near the Interstate 95 crossover.

A rolling road block is a technique where two or more police vehicles surround the suspect’s vehicle and slow down until all come to a stop, Wilson’s Mills police said.

“Officers trained in the rolling road block technique utilized their training effectively. The result brought a pursuit safely to an end with the driver being arrested,” said Wilson’s Mills Police Chief David Hess.

Yehdgo was charged with misdemeanor speed to elude arrest. Police said Yehdgo was taken to the Johnston County Jail and given a $5,000 secured bond.
