Powdered Alcohol Ban Fails In SC Senate

Posted: Updated:
COLUMBA, S.C. -

A ban on powdered alcohol won't become law in South Carolina any time soon. Tuesday, Sen. Larry Martin of Pickens tried to tack an amendment for the ban onto a bill involving alcohol sales on election day.

However, lawmakers ruled that it wasn't allowed because the bills were so different.

The measure to ban powdered alcohol in South Carolina will have to go through the normal legislative process.

The session ends next month, which means the bill doesn't have time to pass.

An Arizona-based company introduced powdered alcohol, but federal regulators pulled the approval last month.

South Carolina lawmakers are concerned about the safety of this product.

Mark Phillips, the creator of Palcohol created the Youtube video below in response to critics of his product.
