OCONEE COUNTY, S.C. -

A dog who was seen wandering around for days in Oconee County with its head stuck in a pipe has now been caught.

At 10:30pm Monday, WSPA was told by Upstate Animal Rescue that Piper has been caught and will undergo a veterinarian evaluation.

The Oconee County Sheriff's Office says someone saw the dog - known as "Piper"- Monday morning and now that it has been caught, they hope to adopt it out.

No one knows how the dog was freed from the metal pipe that had some duct tape attached, but the animal has been a stray in the neighborhood for about a year.

The dog was skittish and hard to catch, but one area resident has developed a rapport with the pet and that is believed what aided in its capture.

The OCSO spokesman says that man hopes to adopt the dog.

Animal Control is asking the general public to stay away from the situation. They do not want any more assistance with the dog. They also say the dog is not suffering and will avoid contact with most people.
