Lots of buzz going on at bc these days....school year is winding down and oh yeah, the cadets baseball team is playing in the states final four....two wins away from hosting a state championship series next weekend...lots of headlines that they are trying to take in stride. At Benedictine, everyone involved will tell you it doesn't get a whole lot better than this. So the goal here is to embrace it. "It's stressful and you know, you gotta love it. Baseball's getting exciting at this point. Hopefully we'll keep continuing." says Junior Brad Stewart.
Monday afternoon the BC baseball team is playing in the final four, against a team they've seen in the post season before. "Yeah, we played em last year and I've matched up with them in previous playoffs before." says Kevin Farmer, Cadets head coach. "Very good team. Very disciplined team. Very fundamental team. They do things right to win ball games and they take advantage of another teams mistakes." says Farmer.
The semi-final series falls smack dab in the middle of a busy run. Outside the white lines on the field. Like what you ask? Well, seniors graduated on Sunday. That's kind of a big deal. Oh, and underclassmen have exams to contend with Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday this week.
"we're just preaching to be focused. Team first. Don't do anything to jeopardize the team and what's at stake." adds Farmer.
Coach Farmer believes he has a mature group, part of what has gotten them this far. So everyone is just keeping a level head and will be ready to play ball Monday afternoon, one would hope.
I think for sure we have the talent to get to this point and further. We just have to stay confident and keep working in practice." says Stewart
"We hope we have a good crowd and a lot of support for the final four from the Savannah Community. Encouraging everyone to come and support us Monday at 1:30 against Wesleyan." says Farmer.
