Ohio Stadium Renovation Underway

Posted: Updated:
COLUMBUS, Ohio - Ohio State has invested nearly $13.7 million in a renovation project for the south stands at Ohio Stadium, plus a new turf playing field. Both projects are now underway and the field turf is nearly complete.

The new field turf looks identical to the old surface which lasted seven seasons.

The school has set a deadline of August 14 for completion of the other projects, including the addition of 2,600 seats in the south end zone and new HD lighting.

As part of the south end zone project, a new player entrance tunnel will be constructed with new OSU signage for the football team.

OSU Facilities Manager Don Patko said there are no plans to fully enclose Ohio Stadium, but he said the school is evaluating future stadium expansion or renovation needs.

OSU opens its home football schedule September 6 against Virginia Tech.
