Band Together, sparked by Saturday’s big concert with Hall and Oates, has raised more than $600,000 this year for its community partners, executive director Matt Strickland said.

The money will go to Communities in Schools of Durham and Wake counties. Those organizations will use the proceeds to hire a minimum of six graduation coaches and mentors who will directly serve more than 600 students while indirectly serving 6,000 more students in the Triangle.

Each year, Band Together picks a community organization as a partner and raises money with a major concert for the effort. This year, the concert was held at the Walnut Creek Ampitheatre.

Last year, Band Together partnered with the Tammy Lynn Center for Developmental Disabilities. The concert in 2013 featured Lyle Lovett and was held at the Koka Booth Ampitheatre in Cary.
