MURRELLS INLET, SC -
An Ohio couple came to the Grand Strand to get married Sunday. But Saturday night the bride-to-be began feeling bad, and felt worse on Sunday.

The bride-to-be, Kimberly Elgin, had been planning the wedding for 1 1/2 years and came to the ER Sunday at Waccamaw Community Hospital

Elgin, who was engaged to Travis Smith, was admitted to the hospital and had an appendectomy scheduled for Monday morning.

Still, the wedding went on: The nurses at the hospital helped put together a wedding complete with decorations. Her brother performed the ceremony on Sunday evening -- just hours before the surgery.

The new bride and groom are both 24 from Columbus, Ohio. She is a nurse, and he is a student at Ohio State University.

The new bride was even able to be released Tuesday afternoon -- just in time for the honeymoon.
