Claxton Grad Williams Takes Over Football Program

Rodrick Williams Rodrick Williams
(Claxton) - Rodrick Williams is set to take over the Claxton Tigers football program for the 2014 season.  Williams replaces Patrick Hendrix who is stepping down to enter the private sector.

Williams graduated from Claxton High School in 1992.  He later graduated with a teaching degree from Armstrong Atlantic State University in 2001.  Williams joined his high school alma mater that same year coaching track and football and teaching weightlifting.   He spent most of his years at Claxton as either offensive Line and/or defensive Line coach.  He was elevated to defensive coordinator when Hendrix took over as head coach in 2011.

"I'm very excited to be home in the community that gave me so much," says Hendrix. I'm ready to continue investing in the school and my hometown to help young people do the right things."

Williams is married with two boys and a girl.  His oldest son, Syrus, is going to be a junior at Claxton and will be a runningback/linebacker for the Tigers' football team.
