Neglected Hinesville Dog Finds A Forever Home

Posted: Updated:
EFFINGHAM COUNTY, GA - The dog found in a Hinesville home nearly starved and abandoned earlier this year has found a forever home.

Juicy was rescued in January and was found weighing around 40 pounds less than what she was supposed to. The staff at the Humane Society for Greater Savannah helped get her healthy again and now Juicy is getting a happy ending with her adopted family in Effingham County.

One of the changes Juicy is getting used to is a new name.

"I read that the name is associated with what happened in the past, so every time she heard the name it would recall the memories, so we changed her name to Jezebelle and she's really responding well to that,” said owner Andrew Bauch.

Jezebelle is also enjoying the attention new owner Andrew Bauch throws her way. When Bauch adopted her he knew he had some work to do.

“If you pet her you could feel the skeleton, she still didn't have a whole lot of weight,” said Bauch.

Jezebelle is now at a healthy weight and enjoys running free in the backyard with her pal, Sebastian.

“They play together, they lay together on the bed, so they get along really well now,” said Bauch.

Bauch said he's amazed at the unconditional love these animals will have if you take care of them.

"I knew if we gave her enough love and took care of her properly she was going to be a great dog and she's turning out to be a very wonderful dog,” said Bauch.
