There's a championship tournament going on in town this weekend hosted by the Savannah State Tigers.
6 member schools of the MEAC Conference are in town for their first golf championship since 1983. It took some doing to get the schools together and down here. First things first, not every member school even had a golf team, but they do now. They are glad to be here in savannah and looking forward to a great weekend of championship golf, so says their commissioner, Dennis Thomas.
"First of all, Savannah very nice city. Very hospitable city. It's a great golf town as well and we have Savannah State University here as well and that was one of the reasons why." said Thomas.
The tournament continues through Sunday at Crosswinds Golf Club in Pooler.
