Savannah, Georgia - Republicans continue to make repealing the Affordable Care Act the focus of their upcoming campaigns in the mid-term elections.  Friday Dr. Bob Johnson, a local surgeon who is running for the First U.S. Congressional district seat in Georgia held a roundtable with physicians and healthcare administrators at the Hyatt in Savannah to discuss issues facing doctors and patients and also efforts to repeal the new law.

Johnson is getting some help on the campaign trail this weekend from another doctor--U.S. Congressman Andy Harris, a Republican from Maryland.  “There are hundreds of lawyers in the U.S. House and only 17 doctors.  If we are going to repeal ObamaCare, we need Dr. Bob Johnson in the House to join me in my efforts to repeal ObamaCare and replace it with a market based system that puts patients first,” said Congressman Harris in a prepared statement.

Johnson has made repealing the Affordable Care Act the cornerstone of his campaign, but the five Republicans opposing him in next month’s Georgia primary have also pledged to defeat the new law if elected to Congress.
