NEW PORT RICHEY, FL (WFLA) - The story about squatters who took over the home of a deployed New Port Richey soldier has many asking how you can help.

Many members of the Florida community are offering to help fix up Army Spc. Michael Sharkey's home, now that the squatters have left.

Veteran Warriors is coordinating a massive clean up and renovation. The group is asking for donations and licensed construction professionals to volunteer their time.

Veteran Warriors has also set up a GoFundMe online account for people who want to contribute financial donations.

The group is also planning to throw a welcome home party for Michael Sharkey and his wife when they return home to New Port Richey.
