ST. PETERSBURG, FL (WFLA) -
St. Petersburg Police are searching for a man involved in a road rage incident Thursday night.

“I saw two cars starting to go at it. They were honking at each other and then one of the guys, the guy in the truck was driving really fast, slamming on his brakes,” said witness Justin Trudeau.

Trudeau told police the altercation went on for several blocks between the suspect in the truck and the 39-year-old female victim, until they reached a red light.

“She got out to say something to him, right there at the intersection at a red light. She walked up, exchanged some words with the driver. She reached in, I think to push him or something like that. He reached out, grabbed her, held on and then took off through the red light. He whipped around in the intersection, almost wrecked his truck. He lost control, holding on to her the whole time,” added Trudeau who couldn’t believe what he was watching.

Police report the suspect was dragging the victim for several feet before dropping her and then running over her arm. Trudeau, who is a veteran, ran to help.

“She was pretty messed up. Her arm was bleeding pretty badly it looked like she nicked an artery In her arm,” added Trudeau. Trudeau used his military training and jumped into action.

“I was trying to get her to elevate the arm over the heart to slow the circulation down,” added Trudeau.

Police describe the suspect’s truck as a older model silver or beige Toyota Tacoma, last seen entering westbound I-175 at 4th street South. No one was able to get his tag number before he drove off.

The 39 year-old victim was admitted is Bayfront Hospital for severe injuries to her right arm from the truck running over her. SPPD have no released her identity. She is expected to be okay.

After what Trudeau witnessed, he is warning others: “it s a crazy world that’s why it’s better just to keep a calm head and brush it off because you never know who you are dealing with.”

Anyone with information about the driver is asked to call St. Petersburg police at (727) 892-5000.
