Our Hometown: Duck Derby to Benefit Second Harvest

Valdosta, GA - Get ready for a weekend of rubber ducks and donations. Seems like an odd combination but the classic community tradition returns this Saturday to Wild Adventures in Valdosta. 10,000 yellow, rubber ducks will be launched in Splash Island's Paradise River for the 10th annual Derby Duck Race to help end hunger.

Money raised benefits Second Harvest of South Georgia- an important cause considering one in four people in the region don't know where they'll get their next meal.

Adopting a duck is $5 with all proceeds benefiting Second Harvest of South Georgia.

Prizes will be awarded to those who adopt the fastest ducks.
the race begins at 11 a.m. Gates open at 10 a.m.
