FOUR OAKS, N.C. -

A Johnston County deputy was shot at while responding a call Tuesday afternoon on Lees Union Church Road in Four Oaks.

Russell Thorton said he was helping a friend move items up the road from 2199 Lees Union Church Road when a neighbor across the street became angry. Thorton said the neighbor retrieved a gun and began shooting across the street at them.

The sheriff’s office said the shooting suspect was taken into custody.
