It's an extraordinary Easter for dozens of exceptional children

CHOCOWINITY, N.C. - The rain didn’t stop dozens of kids and their families from enjoying a day of Easter activities in Chocowinity.

On Saturday, ACCEPT Children and ExCEL held their Extraordinary Children Family Easter Event at the Chocowinity Community Building.

Children were treated to food, arts & crafts, a photo booth, and an Easter egg hunt.

“Easter is have fun today," said nine-year-old Journee Boston.

Many parents say having an event like this is enjoyable for the parents too.

“It's great because there are so many parents here that understand you, where you are coming from. There's lots of therapist that are here to help out so they're not running off in a different direction. Everybody [has] friends that are at their same level," said parent Crystal Woolard.

At the end of the day it's about extraordinary children, excelling at activities, and accepting each other all in the name of Easter.

“Our children want to be accepted, they deserve to be accepted. If you take time to learn about the disabilities there is nothing to fear. They are just like everyone else. They just want to be understood and accepted," said event organizer Allison Crisp.

ACCEPT Children holds a fun day once a month. For more information click here.
