Looking brighter for Easter

The stubborn weather system which brought rainy, chilly weather to all of the Southeast will finally be on the move, just in time to bring us some sunshine on Easter Sunday and help temperatures to recover in a big way.

A combination upper level cutoff low and associated surface cyclone has put Georgia in line for major rainfall, brisk winds, and a cold air wedge that brought our coolest maximum temperature on record for April 18.  Though the rain did move out Friday night, temperatures haven't recovered much today due to the persistent low overcast and lingering moisture.

The upper low will finally get caught up in the upper air flow and exit the area Sunday, leaving behind some clouds over Georgia.  Here in western Georgia we should be able to lose most of the cloud cover as drier air moves in, allowing for a good amount of sunshine for Easter.

Temperatures will continue to climb each day next week as we shift toward a warmer overall pattern.  We'll likely see 80 degrees toward the end of the week, with lows mostly in the 50s.  We will have a shot at some thunderstorms with a weak front on Tuesday, but that will be a fast moving frontal system and amounts will not be excessive.
