Wash and Go! Solar-Powered Shower

Roughing it doesn't have to be all that rough anymore.

Whether you are surfing, hiking, biking or camping, the latest solar-powered tool is ready to rinse you off before you head home.  There's now no need to head home for a shower.

Road trips... a day at the beach... camping... they are great ideas at the time, but you must also prepare for it to get hot and sticky.

But now there is a new gadget that allows you to freshen up any time and any where.

It's called the 'Road Shower' and it costs about $200.  You simply install a 5ft long pressurized tank to the roof of your car.

Once it gets above 86 degrees, the water inside the black aluminum casing heats up and is ready to use in about two hours.

The tank comes with a hose that can also be used to wash equipment like bikes or surfboards.

Joel Cotton of Colorado came up with the idea.  He says he came up with it all when he was exploring the 120 mile White Rim Trail in Utah.

He says they tried using solar shower bags, but there was nowhere to hang them, and the water would drip out and it wasn't warm.

So Joel spent the last seven years trying to develop a shower that heats up while you drive.

The Road Shower has no solar panels but uses renewable energy from the sun.  This then heats the black surface and warms the water inside.

The tank holds five gallons of water, and it can project the water up to 60 feet.  The nozzle can be set to one of seven settings, including shower, jet and mist.
