Wildlife agency kills several bears after attack

Posted: Updated:
LAKE MARY, FL (WFLA) -

A wildlife officer fatally shot several bears that exhibited dangerous behavior during an investigation of an attack in a central Florida neighborhood.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said the bear showed no fear of humans and didn't run when an officer yelled at it on Sunday evening. The agency says officer shot and killed three bears that showed no fear of humans. Two others ran away at the sight of humans, which is typical wild bear behavior.

Officers were investigating a bear attack in the Lake Mary neighborhood after Terri Frana encountered a bear outside her home on Saturday night. She was treated and released from a hospital. Officials say she was bitten on the head and arm.

Wildlife officials set several bear traps in the area.
