Jakeenan Gant has left Effingham County High School and enrolled in the School of the Osage in Missouri weeks before graduation.

Yancy Ford, ECHS Principal, confirmed to WSAV-TV that Gant has transferred out of the school in Springfield, Georgia.

Gant starred for the Rebels, being named Mr. Basketball in Atlanta last month.  He will NOT graduate from Effingham County High School.  Gant's a 6'8" forward who averaged more than 20 points per game his senior season.  He signed a National Letter of Intent to play college basketball for the Missouri Tigers.

Ford says that Gant has "...provided us with a very solid foundation for our basketball program and we wish him the best of luck."

Gant was Georgia's Class-AAAAA Player of the Year the past two seasons.

Dennis Knight of the Savannah Morning News first reported the story Friday evening.

School of the Osage is located in Osage Beach, Missouri.
