BEAUFORT, S.C. -

UPDATE:

The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office says they are investigating an apparent murder suicide in the Dale area of Beaufort County.

Deputies say they responded to a home on Island Road around 7 Thursday night in reference to a welfare check. Reports show that the couple's son asked authorities to check on them after he was unable to reach them for several days.

There they found, 80-year-old Jeanette Chinn and her husband 81-year-old Brian Chinn un-responsive in their bedroom. The couple, along with their dog, were all pronounced dead at the scene.

Deputies say the investigation points towards a murder suicide and there is no evidence that a third party was involved.

A firearm was also recovered at the scene and both victims appeared to have sustained a single gun shot wound.

The Sheriff's Office is asking anyone with information regarding this incident to contact Investigator Cpl. J. Malphrus at 843-255-3426 or Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIMESC.
