Authorities investigate murder, attempted suicide in Chambers County

CUSSETA, Ala. - The Chambers County Sheriff’s Office is looking into a murder, attempted suicide in Cusseta, Alabama Tuesday night.

The incident happened around 7:30 p.m. in a home on the 2000 block of County Road 177, according to Major Mike Parrish. Authorities say they arrived at the home of Steve Sorrells to find his 29-year-old stepson, Patrick Duffee, dead. Sorrells was transported to the Midtown Medical Center where he underwent surgery for gunshot wounds after shooting himself, according to authorities. 

Chambers County officials have not yet released what may have led to the shooting.
