Lejeune exercise includes shooter scenario

Posted: Updated:
CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. - Less than 24-hours after the Wednesday’s Fort Hood shooting, Marines at Camp Lejeune sharpened their skills in the event a similar situation happens there.

The base held active shooter training Thursday.

The Marine Corps base conducted the drill at Hospital Point during a staged change of command.

The exercise also included a special reaction team, hostage negotiation scenarios involving first responders, law enforcement, and base officials.

It wasn’t a reaction to yesterday's Ft. Hood shooting. The base had this on the books for months.

It conducts these response drills every year to help identify weaknesses in hazard-response plans.
