Local Teacher Builds 'Igloo' for Special Education Students

Posted: Updated:

A Coastal Empire teacher is going the extra mile for her special education students, one jug of milk at a time.

Rachel Pritchard and her para-professionals at Mattie Lively Elementary School built an 'igloo' out of milk jugs for her students with severe disabilities. Pritchard says it allows all of the students a place to sit together without wheelchairs and other assistance.

But, we can't tell you how many milk jugs are in the igloo, there's a competition at the school and the class with the closest guess gets an in-class viewing of the movie "Mr. Popper's Penguins."
