The Chatham Emergency Management Agency says they are ready in case disaster strikes over the St. Patrick's Day weekend.

CEMA says they have two separate Emergency Operations Centers (EOCs), that will augment the City of Savannah's first responders and officials that control the four day festival.

The command post downtown is a truck turned Mobile Emergency Operations Center (MEOC) at West River Street. Crews will monitor the crowds they say could get out of hand.

"Imagine a zoo, and everybody has got a beer in their hand, okay? That's what it will look like," says Chatham Emergency Management Agency Director Clayton Scott.

A crowded scene of chaos is how Scott says the streets downtown will turn into over the next few hours. Amidst the mobs and revelry, responders will be on standby at the MEOC.

"We've got a satellite dish on our roof. We can reach anything. We've got a mondo board, you can bring up maps," Scott says.

With a mondo board to monitor all active medical calls in the downtown Savannah area, and a satellite camera to pinpoint any location along River Street, the MEOC offers a bird's eye view of the city.

"It's all a matter of preparedness. If something happens, this is here and we're ready for it," Scott says.

The Chatham County Annex will also serve as CEMA's primary command post, housing the phone operations center and general staff.

CEMA says they will also stage the Mobile Emergency Operation Center (MEOC) on West River Street where it will be utilized by a combination of resources charged with observing, collecting data and being ready to react to an incident in a moment's notice.
