Part of Lakeland's New Jersey Road to close for 3 weeks
By Press Release
LAKELAND, FL (WFLA) -
A portion of New Jersey Road in Lakeland will close for three weeks beginning Monday, March 24.
In preparation for the City of Lakeland Public Works Department’s upcoming New Jersey Trail project, Water Utilities must reconstruct two (2) 6” sanitary sewer gravity main crossings of New Jersey Road at Jae Place and the unnamed cul-de-sac to the north of Jae Place. The 6” and 12” water mains in these same areas must also be adjusted in anticipation of the proposed drainage improvements that will be constructed with the Trail, and to accommodate the reconstructed sanitary gravity sewer. Public Works will then do prep work for the upcoming New Jersey Trail project.
New Jersey Road between Crystal Lake Drive and Sylvester Road will be closed, except to local traffic, starting at 7 a.m. on Monday, March 24, 2014 and will re-open by 5 p.m. on Friday, April 11, 2014. This will be a continuous 24 hour a day closure, including the weekend. New Jersey Road traffic will be detoured along Bartow Highway (South 98). Sylvester Road traffic will be detoured along Meadowbrook Avenue. Variable Message Boards advising of the upcoming road closure and detour plan will be in place starting March 17th.
The New Jersey Trail is part of a trail master plan that includes Three Parks Trail and Crystal Lake Trail. New Jersey Trail once completed will be an 8 ft. wide asphalt trail approximately one mile long that will ultimately connect to the upcoming Crystal Lake Trail and the Three Parks Trail.
