SSU Tigers Prepare for MEAC Tournament Play

Posted: Updated:

Tournament play gets underway this week for the Savannah State Tigers, on the women's side the ladies have put themselves in a nice position to make some noise come this post season.

Thursday night, the Lady Tigers capped their season with a nine point win over South Carolina State to finish an impressive ten and two at home portion of their schedule.  Their best record at home since 2002-2003 season.  The ladys will open tournament play as a five seed and will open Monday at 1:30 against Morgan State.   A couple of wins to end their season.  They are feeling pretty good going into this week in Norfolk.

"not taking anybody lightly, but, I'm very excited about the body of work we put in throughout the season.  Hopefully, it's put us in a great position to be successful in meac tourney."  says Head Coach Cedric Baker.  "It's is a momentum shift, but we can play a lot better than what we did going into the MEAC Tournament." according to Ezinne Kalu, senior guard.  "It's a different ballgame.  Everybody is zero and zero so we have to make sure we go in with intesity.  High energy and play as close to perfect as we can."
