Jobs Tips: Helping older job seekers find a match

COLUMBUS. Ga. - Kara Tsuboi, CNET.com for CBS News.
Finding a job is never easy, but especially not for older workers who have either been out of the workforce for a while or whose technology-skills may not be as up to date as the market demands.

Before even starting a job search, you should assess where your skills are now--let’s face it, you’re not the same person you were when you began your career. A good place for this kind of evaluation is the National Business Services Alliance. They have a Job Match feature to help you find what you're really looking for. Take the survey to figure out what your strengths and talents are --and how they match up with jobs in your area.

Quintcareers.com is a comprehensive website with job posting and searching tips. Click through to the page for mature and older job seekers and you'll find a wealth of free resources like how to update your resume or ease yourself back into the workforce.

And speaking of those people looking to return to work, RetiredBrains.com is a useful, long-established site just for you. A popular feature on this site is the "work from home" search category with plenty of career options based on convenience.

No matter the age, the job searching process is time-consuming and often times frustrating. But hopefully, these tools can help.

A Florida beach cleared out – with the exception of a woman and lifeguard who tried to save her – when a shark was spotted heading straight toward swimmers on Tuesday afternoon. The panic of the 10-foot shark and people screaming from the pier was caught on tape.
