There is a push in the entertainment world and on social media to have Sarah Jones' name added to the In Memoriam segment at this Sunday's Oscars.

Jones, 27, died Thursday when she was struck by a train while she and other film crew members were filming a portion of "Midnight Rider," which is based on the life of musician Gregg Allman.

Seven other crew members were injured.

A Facebook page called "Slates For Sarah" is pushing for her name to be added to the In Memoriam list during the Academy Awards.

The list includes distinguished members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences who died during the previous year.

The page asks that people contact Jonathan with the Academy at (310) 247-3000 x1256 and ask that her name be added to the list.

You can also visit www.SlatesForSarah.org or email SlatesForSarah@gmail.com .

According to her obituary, Jones was a 2009 graduate of the College of Charleston where she studied Media Communications and Film Studies.

She began her career while interning on the set of Army Wives and also worked on The Vampire Diaries.

Jones was also a member of the International Cinematographers Guild.

The IATSE released this statement Saturday: "Sarah Elizabeth Jones was one of us. She lost her life tragically yesterday due to a horrible accident while working on the feature film "Midnight Rider." Sarah was a terrific assistant, who was loved by her coworkers. She was just twenty-seven years old and was building a promising career in the Atlanta area at the time of her death. Local 600 members around the country are mourning her loss. Close friend, Julie Donovan says, 'It is impossible to put into words what a truly amazing friend, colleague and soul Sarah was. Everyone whose life she touched was made better by her presence. She was beyond generous in spirit and asked for nothing in return.' Our hearts go out to her Sarah's family and close friends."

Jones most recently lived in Atlanta but was from West Columbia, South Carolina.

Her funeral is scheduled for 4 p.m. on Wednesday in her hometown.
