UPDATE: City of Savannah Settles Police Lawsuit

Posted: Updated:

The city of Savannah has settled one of two racial discrimination lawsuits filed by current Savannah-Chatham Police Officers.

Savannah's City Council approved a $200,000 settlement with Captain Charles Hall.

Hall filed a lawsuit back in January of 2013 claiming then Chief Willie Lovett discriminated against him by not moving him up to Major. Hall claimed it was because he was African-American.

Current Acting Major Dean Fagerstrom is also suing the Department and the City for the same reason. That lawsuit is still pending.
