SAVANNAH, GA -

UPDATE:

Savannah's City Council has voted to approve the tower Vantage wants to build in the Edgemere-Sackville neighborhood, but not the variances the group had requested.

Vantage had requested variances to tower height and the required landscaping buffer.

Those variances had also been denied by the Metropolitan Planning Commission back in October, which had effectively killed the project.

----------

Vantage Tower is appearing before Savannah's City Council today.

They are asking Aldermen to overrule the decision by the Metropolitan Planning Commission in October to deny several variances that would have been required in order for the tower to be built.

So far, attorneys and company representatives have been speaking to Council.

Council will also hear from neighbors who live in the Edgemere-Sackville community where the tower would be located.

Many of them have worked to oppose the tower since last summer.
