Columbus house fire injuries two, destroys much of home

COLUMBUS, Ga. - Two were hospitalized after a fire destroyed most of a Columbus home early Wednesday.

Fire fighters responded to 4848 Basswood Drive around 12:20a et, Columbus Fire Marshal Ricky Shores tells WRBL News 3 media partner The Ledger-Enquirer. First responders rescued a man and a woman from the burning home. The male victim was treated for smoke inhalation. The woman suffered burns to her hands and feet, according to Shores. A firefighter was also treated for a minor burn.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
