UPDATE: Funeral arrangements made for former Jenkins hoops star

SAVANNAH, GA -

UPDATE:

Mr. Rashaad Jamal Spann, 20, had his transition on Friday, February 14, 2014 at Memorial Health University Medical Center.

Funeral services for Mr. Rashaad Jamal Spann will be held 12:00PM, Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Temple of Glory located 1105 Stiles Ave. Bishop Matthew Odum; Pastor/Eulogist.

Interment: Woodville Cemetery.

Public viewing will be held on Friday, February 21, 2014 from 10:00AM-6:00PM at the funeral home.

Former Jenkins High School and Groves High School basketball star Rashaad Spann was found shot inside a car on Hawaii Avenue in Savannah early Friday morning.  Spann captured the Region 3-AAAAA Player of the Year honor his Junior season at Jenkins in 2010-2011.

 

WSAV HAS TALKED WITH JENKINS HEAD COACH BAKARI BRYANT, GROVES HEAD COACH JEFF GRIMES AND SAVANNAH HIGH HEAD COACH TIM JORDAN AND WILL HAVE FULL REACTION TONIGHT ON WSAV NEWS AT 10 (MyLC) AND NEWS 3 AFTER THE OLYMPICS.

 

Police have arrested 20-year-old Fashad Kennedy for the crime. No word yet on motive.

Spann played his sophomore season at Groves High School, helping the Rebels win 30 games.  They lost to Newton in the GHSA State Quarterfinals on a buzzer-beater.  Spann then transferred to Jenkins and won the Region Player of the Year award under Greg Oliver.

Spann suffered from two knee injuries his senior season.
