UPDATE: Man Killed in Lady's Island Crash

LADY'S ISLAND, SC -

 

UPDATE 4:30 p.m.

Beaufort County Deputy Coroner David Ott says Luther Lynard, 27, of St. Helena, was pronounced dead at Beaufort Memorial Hospital following this afternoon's head-on collision on Highway 21.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol says the collision occurred when Lynard's 2004 Ford Taurus traveling northbound crossed into the southbound lane and struck a 2011 F-150.

The collision happened in the 1100 block of Sea Island Parkway.

Senior Trooper Hannah Wimberly says Lynard was not wearing a seatbelt.

Those inside the pickup truck were also taken to Beaufort Memorial for treatment.

TRAFFIC ALERT: An accident in the 1100 block of Sea Island Parkway on Lady's Island has shut down the road.  Two vehicles are involved, at least on of them has caught fire. 

News 3 has learned, two people have been transported to Beaufort Memorial Hospital.  No word yet on the severity of their injuries.
