Pearlie Mae DriessenGadson was one of the great folklorist and storytellers to be born on HiltonHead Island in the 1900s. She recounted the tales of life on the island beforethe bridge and before it became a resort island. Pearlie Mae as she was called wouldshare the medicinal and daily living practices amongst Gullah Geechee peopleand their culinary traditions. Her friend Louise Cohen storytellerextradonnaire carries the torch of her legacy and others.
