Attorney general's office will not investigate Muscogee school board

Posted: Updated:
COLUMBUS, Ga. - The Georgia Attorney General's Office has declined Muscogee County School Board member Cathy Williams' request to investigate an alleged violation of the open meetings law and an alleged false report to law enforcement.

In a letter addressed to Williams, the Attorney General's office cited the lapse of time and inadequate evidence as to why they declined to investigate. Click here for the Attorney General's letter.

As WRBL News 3 first reported on January 7, Williams was requesting an investigation in to a 2013 school board closed door meeting. In her letter, Williams said the meeting may have been improperly called and a vote was inappropriately taken during that executive meeting.

"I think at the end of the day the attorney general opted not to get involved in what had become a controversial issue," says Williams.
